You have the right to ask us about our charges, the type of advice we will give you, and what you can do if you have a complaint about our services.  

Key information is set out in answer to the questions below. If you need further information or clarification, please ask us.

 Before you get our advice  

From when does this Financial Services Guide apply?

This FSG applies from the version date printed on the bottom of each page and remains valid until a new version of the FSG is issued to replace it.  

Who will be responsible for the advice given to me?                                                                                   

Our representatives will be acting on behalf of Finance & Insurance (Brokers) Australia Pty Ltd in respect of general insurance product recommendations only.  

Professional Memberships                          

Finance & Insurance (Brokers) Australia Pty Ltd is a participating broker with the Insurance Brokers Dispute Ltd, an Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) approved external disputes resolution facility.

 Finance & Insurance (Brokers) Australia Pty Ltd is also a member of the Steadfast Group Limited and N.I.B.A.

  How will I pay for the Service?                    

This can be by any of the following ways or a combination of them:

 Fee for Service or Broker Fee

A fee paid by you to our representative invoiced through Finance & Insurance (Brokers) Australia Pty Ltd.  This is referred to as a “fee for service” or “broker fee”; and / or

 Commissions

Commissions paid to our representative are as a consequence of insurance products recommended.  Such commissions are based on the premium you pay in respect of the Financial Product acquired.  These commissions will range between 0% to 30%.  

Steadfast

We are a shareholder of Steadfast Group Ltd. and they receive .5% to1% overriding commission from some insurers.  This is used to operate Steadfast.  Depending on the operating costs of Steadfast (including the costs of member services provided by Steadfast to us and other Steadfast shareholders) and the amount of total business we place with the participating insurers in any financial year, we may receive a proportion of that commission at the end of each financial year. 

  Miramar Underwriting Agency Pty Ltd

Steadfast is also a minority shareholder in Miramar Underwriting Agency Pty Limited (Miramar).  As a shareholder, Steadfast many receive dividends from Miramar . These amounts will indirectly contribute towards the benefits we receive from Steadfast.  

Premium Funders

Finance & Insurance (Brokers) Pty Ltd has a relationship with premium funders.  If you choose to use this facility we will receive a commission in the range of 0.0% to 2.0% of the funded premium.  

FIA Financial Planning

If we refer you to FIA Financial Planning we are not paid any referral commissions and or fees.  The Directors of Finance & Insurance (Brokers) Australia Pty Ltd are also directors of FIA Financial Planning. This in no way effects the directorship of either Company.

Oracle Lending Solutions

If we refer you to Oracle Lending Solutions and you decide to use their funding advice, we will receive up to 20% of their Commission/Fee for this referral service.  

When recommendations are made you shall be provided with an Important Information Advice or a Statement of Advice which shall contain specific details including the way our representative will be remunerated for the provision of advice.  

How are the commissions / Fees calculated?

The initial commission received is a percentage of the base insurance premium, before government charges are added. Our fees are based upon the time we spend providing you with the advisory services you require.  

Any commission or broker fee received has an administrative charge of between 35% and 40% deducted for business running costs.  

When you get our advice  

Do I get detailed information about actual fees & other benefits the representative gets

from making the recommendations?

Yes, as mentioned earlier you may receive an Important Information Advice or a Statement of Advice &    or a Product Disclosure Statement (or its equivalent for instance under former legislation).  

Before you commit to accepting any recommendations made to you, you should read the Important Information Advice or the Statement of Advice &/or the Product Disclosure Statement.  An Important Information Advice or Statement of Advice contains important and comprehensive information relating to the recommendations your adviser is making to you.  

If you have not been provided with these documents, please consult your representative, or alternatively please contact us on 08 8267 6365 and we shall endeavour to provide you with these documents.  

Any interest that may accrue on any premium paid by yourself to Finance and Insurance  (Brokers) Australia (licensee) shall be solely for the Licensee’s benefit.

 

Will you give me advice, which is suitable to my needs & circumstances?

Yes, but to do so our representative will need to find out your specific needs, relevant financial situation as well as make any other inquiries with you to enable to better service your needs before an informed product recommendation is made to you.

You have the right not to disclose this information to our representative, if you do not wish to do so.  In these circumstances, our representative is required to warn you about the possible consequence of not having your full personal information.  You should read the warnings carefully as this shall specify the scope of the financial product advice being sought.  

What risks are involved with the recommendations given?                                                                      

Our representative will explain to you any significant risks associated with the recommendations made to you, including the risk of not acting upon recommendations, within the timeframes specified.  If they do not do so, you should ask them to explain those risks to you.  

Will anyone be paid for referring me to you?

Where you have been referred to us by someone else, if we pay them a fee or commission in relation to that referral, we will tell you in the Important Information Advice or Statement of Advice who will receive that fee or commission and what they will receive.  

What information do you maintain in my file and can I examine my file?                                               

Our representative will maintain records of recommendations made. Finance & Insurance (Brokers) Australia Pty Ltd is committed to ensuring the privacy and security of your personal information in accordance with the principles of the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2001 (Privacy Act).  

You have a right to examine the relevant contents of your file.  Please refer to the attached Privacy Statement for further details.  Should you wish to examine your file, please contact our Privacy Officer on 08 8267 6365 who can make the necessary arrangements to provide you with the relevant information.

What should I do if I have a complaint?

1.      Contact us and tell us about your complaint.  We will do our best to resolve it quickly.

2.      If your complaint is not satisfactorily resolved within 10 days, please contact Lucinda Osborne on (08) 8267 6365 or put your complaint in writing and send it to her at  Finance & Insurance (Brokers) Australia Pty Ltd, PO Box 1199, North Adelaide SA  5006.  We will try and resolve your complaint quickly and fairly.

3.      Finance & Insurance (Brokers) Australia Pty Ltd is a member of the Insurance Brokers Disputes Limited (IBD).  If your complaint cannot be resolved to your satisfaction by us you have the right to refer the matter to IBD. IBD can be contacted on 1300 780 808.
